Memories

Recently I have been looking through old pictures!  So much fun.  Here are a few pics that bring back so many memories!!

Lauren and Allie enjoying some Ice Cream.  They are about 4 and 2 in this picture!  This is from when Eric was in residency and we lived in Loma Linda in Southern California.  We had so many backyard picnics on this table!  I loved the table cloth because you could just wipe it clean!  I remember this being a time when the girls wanted to dress themselves.  They also loved to make homemade ice cream and eat it out of cones.  What a mess!!!  I would love to have some of these moments back!!

Hanging out in Hawaii at my parents house one summer.

At the Clovis Balloon Festival - this picture was taken about 5:30 AM.  After the balloons launched, we rushed home in time to see them land in the field next to the house near Woodward Park.
On a family hike in Carmel when the girls were in High School

This is one of our Christmas card pictures.  The girls were in high school - Lauren was a junior and Allie was a sophomore.  Not to sure what's up with my hair - but oh well!!!

Last of the Tomatoes & Eggplants - Bring on the Oranges!

I love love love growing things and now that I don't have kids at home and I am done with the crazy rat-race of trucking kids around, I have more time to enjoy my garden.  I'm getting old and its hard to bend over, so I had some raised (very raised I might add) garden boxes built.
Can't wait for my grandson to be old enough to dig around with me!!
Here are some pics from the yesterday.
Well, there may be a few more tomatoes, but this is some of the last ones!
Summer is quickly passing and soon it will be time to plant some winter yummies!
My eggplants struggled this year, only got a couple for some reason.
This one is a beauty and I cannot wait to put it on the grill in a few days!!
The great news is that as summer turns to fall, the oranges will slowly grow and begin to ripen!
What does this mean?
ORANGE JUICE FOR CHRISTMAS!!

Kiss Me and Football!!

Last evening I had the fun of watching my grandson Jed so his mommy and daddy could go to a cousin party and have some fun without worrying about baby!  The Fresno State Bulldogs were having a little practice and Grandpa Eric had to go, so we joined him!
Madison (one of the coach's daughter) thought the baby was sooo fun!!
She was so loving and tender with him.  He was so happy just to watch not only football, but Madison walking and helping to feed him cheerios!

Here they are watching the scrimmage!
Jed loved the color of the field, the players running around and throwing the ball.  He kept waving and clapping!
I think he is going to love going to football games this season!!

Now we just need to find a little RED for him to wear!

Reflections - Trans Sierra 2011

Enjoy!!
Every year my husband Eric spends a week backpacking in the Sierra's.  The same group of guys have done this for years!  It is a great time of reflection, bonding, eating, hiking and fun!  One year they had a T-Shirt printed that said "Trans Sierra - Great Food and Mediocre Friends".
I would beg to differ on this - these friends are the real deal!
Hope you enjoy the pictures below!
If you do, you may want to click on the link below and check out their website complete with pictures from past years and menu's!!  These guys know how to eat!

Ask the boys sometime if you want the story . . . it's getting better as the years wear on!

A Rose From My Garden

This morning the light was just perfect to take a picture of one of my rose bushes.  This is a tea rose and it is called "New Zealand".
It has incredible color and to me this picture looks almost like someone did a water color!
I love roses and have around 19 of them not including all the china doll roses around the yard.
I enjoy looking at them each day.  Sometimes, like today, the roses remind me of a dear friend who went to be with the Lord 2 1/2 years ago.  Her name was Rose.  I am so thankful for the memories of Rose.  And I am thankful that in my garden, roses like the one above make me think of a very special friend that I cannot wait to see again someday in heaven.

San Diego 2011

Every year, the first full weekend of August, we get together with a bunch of our family friends from UC Davis.  Eric went to college there and developed some life-long friends!  Years ago, we would gather at Mission Beach in San Diego.  Most of the group that host the gathering live in the North part of the San Diego area so now we gather at Del Mar Beach.

The family after a full day at the beach . . . looking so fresh!!

Grandpa and little man . . . get this hat off!!

 I'm so happy now!

Auntie Lauren is watching me eat lunch in my wagon!

Jessie, Allie and their son Jed!  He was not so fond of the 62 degree water!!

So, I love to look at other blogs and this is one of my all time favorites.
I saw it first on another blog which you may all ready know about. (see below for link)  It was one of her recent posts and I spent quite some time looking around the draw and cook website.  Such a fun way to present recipes and I can't wait to do one with my grandson when he is old enough!!

You really should check out both these blogs!  If you love to cook, you will not be disappointed!!
