A Visit to Great Grandma and Grandpa's!!

Most Friday's I take care of Jed while his mama and daddy work.  Since he is getting bigger and more active, I am starting to look for ways to keep him busy.
This past Friday I took him to eat lunch with his Great Grandma and Grandpa Hanson.
His mommy takes him there frequently, so he knows the drill and he loves to play on Great Grandma's sheet with all of her tupperware.
First, he play's with the Cool Whip bowls
Next, he chews the ring from his favorite toy.
Sometimes he has to concentrate hard on what he is doing!
Such a happy boy!  And Grandma is grateful that he gets to spend time with his Great Grandparents!!
Oh, and Jed loves to get out and do things!

Mr. Jedidiah

While Eric has been out of town, I have spent time with our oldest daughter Lauren and a little extra time with Allie, Jesse and baby Jed.  He is growing so fast!  You can see here how he is standing with a little lean on the fence!  He is trying so hard to walk and it is not uncommon for him to pull himself up and then try to walk away from whatever is helping him stand.  It won't be long now and he will be trying to outrun grandma D!!

Eric's Trip - Otherwise known as The Hanson Death March

So today (7/25/11) Eric and his friends are at this little lake camping for the night.
There is some fun technology available where they can GPS their location and it emails all of the wives!
I took a screen shot of it to share with you.  This area is out of Sequoia National Park.  They left on Saturday and will return this coming Friday!

My Visit With Lauren

I just got back from visiting our oldest daughter Lauren who lives in Southern California.  We had such a great time!  We had some wonderful meals together, went to a couple of AA meetings, had some amazing conversations with her and her house mates and had a nice walk on the beach with one of her friends Jordan.  She has some wonderful people in her life!!  I kept meaning to get someone to take our picture, but of course it never happened.  So I don't have recent picture to share . . . but here are a couple of her that I love!!

Lauren with baby Jed . . . looks like he is picking his nose!  Lauren LOVES her little nephew!

Lauren home for a visit!  Lauren and Allie's friend Lindsey came over to see them and the baby!

Cousins at Christmas!  L-R top row:  Danny, Caitlin, Lauren, Allie & Jesse
L-R bottom row: Carly, Thea and Jeremy (Jeremy is Jesse's cousin)

What to do this week??

So with Eric gone, I have my week planned out . . . first, a visit to Southern California to see Lauren.
I'll work one day, have a couple of days to work on projects that are long overdue around the house, then come's the best day of the week . . . Friday!  First I get to babysit my precious grandson Jed, then Eric will be home sometime in the early evening!!  I have a feeling this week will go fast!

Annual Hanson Death March Begins!!

This morning the boys took off on what is affectionately
known as "The Hanson Death March".  The boys have
been doing this for 20+ years.  It started out as a trans-Sierra trip,
but in recent years they have been doing big loops from trail-heads
starting here on the west side of the Sierra's.
Many of these guys have been on most of the trips!
I'll post more pictures when they return.

This past few days has brought a couple of new things for Mr. Jed.
First, he has been having some mommy and me swimming lessons!  He most certainly did not like them at first, but after a rough first week, a nice weekend of practicing and a good day today, he was all smiles!
Other new things:
8 months old!
Crawling all over.
Pulling himself up to a stand - not just on something with a handle, but on the wall as well!
Trying to walk, although he cannot do this yet, it does not stop him from letting go and trying!
His head met my tile and they do not get along!!
His FIRST TOOTH!!
I could not have anticipated how much I would enjoy and savor every minute of my time with Jed.
Grandma loves her little champion!
AND
Grandpa is already "whipped" by this little boy.
He is already plotting their first day on the golf course together - of course Jed's daddy will be there too!

A TASTE OF ISRAEL

This past June, Eric and I were thrilled to be able to go to Israel and experience walking in the Holy Land.  It truly was amazing to see the places where the Hebrew Nation walked and lived and where Jesus walked and taught!  I know it's cliche but the best description is Scripture in 3-D!!
 Standing stones at Tel Gezer
 In an underground city/dovecote
Hiking in the Wilderness of Zin.  One of the many "Wadi's" in the wilderness.
It was pretty steep getting out of the Wadi!
A refreshing float in the Dead Sea
Watching the sunset over the Sea of Galilee

Crossing the Sea of Galilee
Climbing Mt. Arbel near the Sea of Galilee

Finally made it to the Top!
In an old Synagogue (3rd century)
Magnificent Roman ruins at Beth Shean
Our teachers standing in front of a cave north of the Sea of Galilee in Caesarea Phillipi
Eric in an Israeli bunker - from this area we could look out over Lebanon and Syria
Eric was baptized in the River Jordan!
In Caesarea on the Mediterranean Sea (This was one of Herod the Great's finest cities)
At the Wailing Wall (West Wall) in Jerusalem

Family!!
Just wanted to share a recent pic of my girls, Lauren on the left and Allie on the right!
You can follow Allie's blog here!

We look forward to every chance we get to be together.  With Lauren in southern California, it does not happen as much as we would like!  So it's special for us when it happens!
I cannot believe how time goes by.  Eric and I are treasuring every moment with our family!

CATCHING UP!

I love being a grandma!  It's all the fun and you still get to sleep!  We have had some great family times recently.  Here are a few pictures!

Auntie Lauren and Jed hanging out on the weekend of his dedication!

Grandma helping out with 4th of July pictures on the beach in Carmel

Grandpa and Jed swimming in the pool
I have decided to put my achiever aside and not try to catch up with the gap in my blog.  It's not easy for me, because I want to start where I left off and catch up!  So, in the next few days, I will start with recent pictures and I will be OK with that!
